In addition to the Aperture Wood Desk Box, this year we also made a small number of these Wood Aperture Coaster Sets.
These are once again crafted entirely by hand in Philadelphia, by our Master Wood Craftsman, George.
As always, several hours of work goes into making each set, with each piece of wood sanded, joined and finished by hand. Making the aperture pattern by hand was particularly challenging, as the aperture blades had to be precisely cut and manually sanded until they fit perfectly with the contrasting center.
To arrive at what you see here, we experimented with several variations and combinations, some of which did not make the cut due to inherent difficulties in working with different types of wood.
Each Coaster of which is made out of 2 different, complimentary types of wood.
Each Coaster Set contains 4 Coasters - 2 Negatives and 2 Positives (with colors inverted).
These Sets make a great gift, as each Set comes with a unique edition number and storycard describing the types of wood used and how to properly care for this heirloom-quality gift.
